Back in May of 2006, I had the chance to sit down and chat with Al Roberts for an article about him that Ann Varnum and I were writing for Dothan Magazine.

After a “forever” career at WTVY, he had decided to retire.

When I heard that he had passed away suddenly Thursday night, I couldn’t help but think about the title of that interview, “Rounding Third and Heading For Home”…

I hope you had the chance to meet him… if not, maybe our article will tell you a little more about a true gentleman… and a good friend to so many people.

We’re going to miss him… but Heaven’s gonna luv him.
